Other After School Programs

My Chicago
The My Chicago program, coordinated by the Chicago Historical Society, provides teachers and students in grades 1 through 6 with an opportunity to explore Chicago's history through specific activities and events. The pilot program will result in a guided activity lesson book for every elementary school in the district which will be available in Fall 2003. In addition, it will integrate museum resources and incorporate field trips into the after school curriculum. The program serves approximately 30 students per site and is currently implemented at: Beethoven, Gillespie, Lafayette, National Teacher's Academy and Penn elementary schools.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago (BGCC)
Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago (BGCC) currently operates school-based after-school programs in partner schools. Programs are conducted immediately after school for approximately four hours per day and a minimum of five days a week. Hours may be extended on non-school days such as summer, spring and winter break. Each program has full-time youth development professionals who conduct a variety of recreational and educational programs customized to the school's needs. Activities are conducted in schools' facilities such as gymnasiums, computer labs, libraries and classrooms.
